Someone didn't want me to sew, he wanted attention instead! Or maybe he was drawn to the oilcloth I was using to make the cover.
The finished product and the rest of my sewing area.
A front view. I am very happy with how it turned out. I loved the oilcloth print, I had been eyeing it for a while now. Luckily there is a good amount left over for another project I want to make...
It's hard to tell from the photos, but I used a black bias tape to finish the raw edges. I even made (and finished the edges!) for a space for the machine cords.
All in all I am very pleased with the outcome. It took less than an hour, why did I procrastinate on making this for so long? At least there won't be any cat hair in the machine, which is more than I can say for the rest of the house.
What a brilliant idea to make the cover out of oilcloth! It's lovely! I need to get some to make a new tablecloth.

ReplyDeleteHi! I popped over from Sewaholic.
ReplyDeleteIs this the first time that you've sewn with oil cloth? What did you think about it? I am considering making a Minoru in the vinyl coated variety, but, have never messed with it. I may have to give this project a try; I've got two sergers that sit around without covers...
Hi wundermary,
ReplyDeleteI have made a few little things here and there, but they have all been knick nacks, not clothing. I'm not sure how it would work as a coat.... If you end up trying it let me know! :) Sorry I'm not much help!
Thank you for the response, anyway! Your covers look good. I am thinking I will test drive some oilcloth on a pair for my machines; it's such a great idea.
